The Pleasantview Benefit is a 2-day event Nov 8 and 9 and is an annual fundraiser for Kalona’s continuing care retirement center. It will raise funds this year to purchase a wheelchair van to transport residents to and from appointments and other locations as needed. Any additional funds will be used for the general welfare of all Pleasantview residents. Beginning at 4:30 Friday, Nov 8, there will be a turkey tenderloin supper served until 7 pm and a silent auction which will end at 6:30. Following that a live auction begins at 6:35. Quilts, home-cooked meals, cheese, locally grown frozen meat, gift certificates, handcrafted items, and more will be auctioned until about 10:00. Stop by the bake sale, and enjoy pie and ice cream from the concession stand throughout the evening. Saturday morning Nov 9 an all-you-can-eat pancake, sausage, and egg breakfast is served 7-9:30 am, and the live auction resumes at 8:30, ending about noon when all items are sold. All are welcome to attend and experience the Kalona Country Charm at its best! Admission is free, and meals are sold on a donation basis--no tickets are sold.
