The Pleasantview Benefit is a 2-day event Nov 3 and 4 and is an annual fundraiser for Kalona’s continuing care retirement center. Net proceeds this year will be used to improve the Therapeutic Facility, the place where residents are bathed. All residents in the nursing unit will benefit from this project, with potential additional funds to be used for the general welfare of all Pleasantview residents. Beginning at 4:30 Friday, Nov 3, there will be a turkey tenderloin supper served until 7 pm and a silent auction which will end at 6:30. Following that a live auction begins at 6:35. Quilts, home-cooked meals, cheese, locally grown frozen meat, gift certificates, handcrafted items, and more will be auctioned until about 10:00. Stop by the bake sale, and enjoy pie and ice cream from the concession stand throughout the evening. Saturday morning, an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast is served 7-9:30 am, and the live auction resumes at 8:30, ending about noon when all items are sold. All are welcome to attend and experience the Kalona Country Charm at its best! Admission is free, and meals are sold on a donation basis--no tickets are sold.
