3 Kalona Rainy Day Activities
Well, friends, here we are in the second week of October and we feel the evenings getting chilly and the rains are a’comin. The last two times I have worked here in the chamber office, it has been a downpour! So… what to do in an Iowa October fall rain in the town of Kalona…
TicTok binge? Stay in bed?
Nah! Let’s get out and away from the blob of covers and seize the day!
If a day out of the sun is in your realm of comfort, well let me take you on that journey with some of our favorite places to visit. Activities can even be done with your bestie right by your side. It is a great thing to help bring those besties out of their covers too. (Sometimes we need that push out of being near-professional cat cuddler loungers).
A SPLENDID SPA DAY
First up, is a good old self care day. There are so many benefits of perfecting your skin care routine. And please, don’t just slap stuff on your face… take your time, enjoy the rain and head over to grab some luxury items from our local business Timeless Charm. There are SO many amazing lotions, and natural soaps over there that will get your spa day started right!
LET SOMEONE ELSE COOK
While you are out, you might as well pre-plan that you will be so relaxed that you won’t want to cook. Guess what…
I have that covered for you. At our local shop called Best of Iowa, Lori has an array of frozen meals that you can just drop by and purchase! No supper prep necessary. Just grab, bake and enjoy. There is no day that isn’t made better by letting someone else cook an entire meal for your family under $25 bucks.
HAVE AN OLD SCHOOL SLEEPOVER
Is there anything more exhilarating than having that friend invite you from middle school to their pool party at a hotel? I know how excited I was.
Consider this, Riverside Casino and Hotel stay. They have an indoor pool, and a drool dropping buffet. Plus can you see yourself diving into their hotel beds? Even if you are local, sometimes just getting away from the house is all I need for a refresh. Bring back the thrill of P’J’s, facials, Reality TV marathons, late night pool swim, or even soak up some time with the bar down on the main floor. One more thing…
